& FEATURED ON bbc radio devon CREATIVE CHRISTMAS

Hello Young Music Makers

Tis the Season to be Jolly...and Thankful!

But it is 'oh so hard' sometimes to be grateful and thankful for things especially when times have been particularly challenging and difficult. This year has been one of those strange years where nothing really feels as 'normal' as it has done before. With disruptions to your school learning, lockdowns, social distancing and sadness it can feel quite hard to find things to be grateful for.

But did you know that 'looking for gratitude' and things to be thankful for can actually improve our wellbeing and help us feel more positive emotions.

"Gratitude is a thankful appreciation for what an individual receives, whether tangible or intangible. Gratitude helps people feel more positive emotions, relish good experiences, improve their health, deal with adversity, and build strong relationships. People feel and express gratitude in multiple ways."

So this year I have launched a

DEVON BASED PRIMARY SCHOOLS

Big Emotions Christmas Songwriting Competition

for Devon Based Primary School aged children to have a go at writing a grateful song this Season.

Either write a song with your class or have a go writing one by yourself. Here's how...

1. Subscribe to the Christmas Competition Email List.

2. Download your worksheets, entry forms and backing track (if required).

3. Email lauraloftmusic@outlook.com your completed lyric sheet.

It is easily accessible -

either use a backing track provided or use the chord sheet or create your own! All I ask is that the theme of 'Grateful Song' is used - either thinking about what you are grateful for this season or term at school or during the Christmas Period.
