I have been asked to make music videos for the wonderful school I work (Trinity Primary School, Exeter) and they have kindly agreed that I can share my sessions with anyone who is needing some inspiration for EYFS & KS1 music making.

Here you will find MUSIC MAKING MONDAYS, WELLBEING WEDNESDAYS & FUNKY FRIDAYS! We will explore the simple elements of music, listening to music and singing & jamming along to music. Click on the links below....

MUSIC MAKING MONDAYS

Let’s go on a trip around the World: this week we are visiting the Caribbean.

We are going to be exploring - rhythm patterns.

Can you find objects or instruments around the house that make a sound?

Can you make sounds like the coconut trees, waves of the ocean and the swaying palm trees?

Have fun with the video exploring your own rhythm patterns and then play along to this Caribbean inspired soundtrack and find a song you like.

Top Tip: In Reggae music they play on beats 2 & 4 which are called the off beat.

WELLBEING WEDNESDAYS

Continuing on our journey in Caribbean we are going to listen to some traditional songs from the Caribbean. Why don’t you make a cosy den area and follow this recipe for a caribbean banana & mango smoothie (https://www.cleaneatingwithkids.com/mango-banana-tropical-smoothie/)

whilst listening to the first song…Mango Walk!

Song 1: Mango Walk (Jamaican Traditional Song). I will sing it for you and then you can check out this instrumental version (

Song 2: Bassez Mumma

Do you like the music?

How does it make you feel?

Can you find out what the song Mango Walk is about?

Can you draw a picture inspired by Tropical Caribbean Islands?
