4TheLove is a new project for 2016 which evolved from the experience of becoming a new parent and the shifts this can cause in creative practice and work.
Since starting a family massive shifts happened for me in many areas, (probably all areas of my life) and one such shift came in the form of no longer having the 'creative freedom' I was use to like writing, recording and playing music whenever I liked. I also had health issues impacting on whether I could gig and perform and I had to listen to my body rather than my mind - I have missed these aspects over the last few years but have come to find, and am still learning new ways to express myself whilst practicing mindfully the joys of parenthood and creativity in synergy.
Within my reflection I realise I have tried in many ways to put myself and my creative practices 'in a box'. I have learnt more about myself through becoming a mother and found I have a very short attention span and get distracted/inspired easily so flit about from new idea to new idea. I use to see this as a weakness but now I see it as a blessing. Because to be creative is the most important thing to me and so long as I am practicing it everyday in whatever way I choose, this is enough!
So I have spent a lot of time writing new music, poems, drawing and planning workshops and now as my health returns I will be looking to gig again. The creative practice in my opinion can not be limited to constraints, and perhaps shouldn't be. So this is the blog where I will post all of my creative practices, the process, the outcomes, the joys, the gigs, the music. All 4TheLove of it!
