So early on this year my lovely and talented musician friend Kate Graham and I had a creative rehearsal for the #4TheLove first session. It was a new project and new concept for both of us and neither knew what would be the outcome.
I would like to share with you the outcome, an original song called ‘Bird Song’ to accompany Catherine Cartwright’s image based around promoting awareness of domestic abuse.
We took this recording as a live performance on the day, mainly for documentation and we were hoping to record it later on. Life flowed and pulled us in many different directions and knocked on the door to perfection (again). You know, that old voice saying ‘you can’t do anything creative unless it is perfect’. We were hoping to get into the studio and do a full recording of this as the topic is so emotive and we wanted to do the topic justice.
However, when we met again after a few months we realised this WHOLE project is about creating for the love. We listened back to the track and heard new things…an aeroplane fly by, the ambience of the room and the birds singing at the end. But the main thing we heard was emotion over perfection. That was the day we had #4TheLove; that was the day we captured the emotion and the lyrics and so that is the recording we are going to use. Hope you enjoy.
